New Carlisle-Olive Township Public Library is excited to announce the launch of a new early literacy program called “On My Way-Growing while I read, write, sing, talk, and play.” This program is for children who are not yet in school. “On My Way” runs from September through May.
While we know that reading is important, it is not the only experience that helps children get ready to read. Writing, singing, talking, and playing are also important parts of preparing for success.
We also know that parents and caregivers are a child’s first and best teacher. So we’ve gathered activities and all the supplies you need to participate with your child in this program. Each month’s activities coincide with the themes of our Facebook virtual storytime that airs every Thursday at 10 am. Families will have the option to participate in the program, fully digitally, using the Beanstack app. We hope you will use this as a tool for fun and learning throughout the month. “On My Way” kicks off on September 1st, when families can drive through the circle driveway to pick up their activity bag from 10:00-11:00 am. If you have questions, feel free to call Miss Sarah at 574-654-3046 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
