We had a bit of a false start to Spring this year. It’s probably nothing new, but every year when it happens it feels like a surprise. But finally, it’s starting to feel like permanent spring and we have some exciting things going on at the Library.
You’ll notice that we have a pergola* going up in the Reading Garden. This will provide some much-needed shade in the heat of summer. Stop by and see it and enjoy the space. We designed it as a place where patrons can take a book, find a comfortable seat and enjoy the sunshine. WiFi extends to the reading garden. You can check out a laptop at the front desk or bring your own device and get some work done in the fresh air.
Miss Sarah has also been working hard to get some things ready for the children’s Exploration Garden. The mud kitchen is out, we have paint for the art panel, and the musical instrument and climbing log are always available.
Pretty soon our native plants will be blooming, attracting insects and butterflies. The sun will be shining more days than it’s not. And it will be perfect for enjoying our outdoor spaces.
*The pergola and many of the new items that will be in the Exploration Garden are made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Indiana State Library.
