Library Director

The Board of Trustees of the New Carlisle-Olive Township Public Library (NCPL) seeks an experienced and enthusiastic leader to serve as Director. This is an opportunity to lead a modern, newly renovated library with a dedicated, creative, and innovative staff of 15 with an operating budget of $1.1M. 

NCPL is located in St. Joseph County, Indiana, with a service population of just under 5,000 patrons and more than 2,000 reciprocal borrowers from neighboring areas. Library facilities include a newly renovated 25,000 square foot building with native landscapes and outdoor programming space.

New Carlisle is located in north central Indiana and offers a small town atmosphere with a highly rated school system. It’s situated between Lake Michigan and the University of Notre Dame, with local commuter train service to Chicago.  Numerous cultural, educational, and recreational venues are located in the area.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Indiana Library Certificate 4, or the ability to obtain within 2 years. MLS preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible professional library experience, including supervisory experience, experience writing and implementing policy, community engagement, and financial planning.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Salary commensurate with experience, with a bi-weekly wage range of $2,346-$2,769.
