Maybe your child is starting kindergarten this fall or maybe you’ve got another year with your child at home.  Either way, the preschool years go so fast.  Many times parents feel the pressure to prepare their children for school by making sure that they know letters, sounds, and numbers.  Don’t get me wrong, those things are important but equally important are experiences. Experiences create a solid foundation for academic success.  Sometimes, experiences cost money, but I would argue that many of the best are almost free.  Here are a few suggestions:

  • Plan a treasure hunt in your yard.
  • Go on a hike at a local park.
  • Paint rocks.
  • Play with sidewalk chalk.
  • Pick berries.
  • Go to a parade.
  • Make a pizza.
  • Catch lightning bugs.
  • Talk about everything you see and do.

…..And visit the library.  We have some great activities planned for the summer.  Check out all we have to offer.
