Do you ever dream about writing your own story or long to instill a passion for literature and creative writing in your children? But where to start and what tools do you need to get the ball rolling? Join us at the library to ignite your creativity with author Kat Higgs-Coulthard.
Kat Higgs-Coulthard, author of Hanging with My Peeps and Junkyard Dogs, is an associate professor of Education at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame where she coordinates the annual Get Inked Teen Writing Conference and prepares preservice teachers to teach literacy and writing. A member of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the National Writing Project, and the National Council of Teachers of English, Kat frequently presents at state and national conferences for writers and educators. On September 30th, arrive at 5:30 pm to enjoy some pizza and refreshments together before Kat leads an hour-long family writing workshop, which starts at 6:00 pm. Families will collaborate to write a story about a specific experience using guided prompts, including making neighborhood maps and labeling the site of important memories.
Registration opens September 16 and is required.
