When you think of this time of the year, what are the special memories that come to mind? Baking cookies? Going with your family to pick out a Christmas tree and then decorating it? Shopping for and wrapping the perfect presents for your loved ones? Perhaps you have a family tradition of watching a festive holiday movie together while eating special foods? Whatever they are, these memories are what help you define this holiday season. They set this time of year apart and help bind you to those you love.
Here at the library, we try to create special programs to help enhance your holiday season and give you something to look forward to. One of the great programs we are excited to offer you is An Afternoon at the Symphony, featuring the South Bend Symphony to Go Wind Quintet. Not only does the Symphony play beautiful music, but it also engages with the audience and shares information about its instruments and the wonderful music it makes. On Friday, December 12, at 1:00 pm, make joining us at the library a new memory you make that brings more joy to this time of year.
Creating homemade holiday crafts to give as gifts or to decorate our home inspires creativity and lets us share a part of ourselves. Make some memories by inviting your friends and family to join you as you come to our Homemade Holiday Crafting Program, where you will make Christmas Trees, Wreaths, and Gnome Ornaments. What better way to share the season than crafting and snacking together while listening to the music of the season. This program will be Saturday, December 13, at 2:00 pm and is for ages 16+.
On Saturday, December 20, at 1:00 and 3:00 pm, choose one of our two showings of Twas The Night Before Christmas: Marionette Puppet Show to make another lasting memory here at the library. Share memories of your own childhood by experiencing this wonderful art form with your family and enjoy the retelling of a classical holiday story.
Whatever memories you make, enjoy this time of year, honor the season in your heart, and try to keep it all year!
