If you feel bombarded by an endless stream of competing predictions about artificial intelligence, you are not alone. One minute you see a prediction that AI will cause incredible job losses and the next, an expert is claiming AI will lead us into a utopian outcome like “eternal youth.” With technology changing so rapidly, how can anyone keep up? We compiled a short list of credible resources to help you stay apprised of the latest AI developments and consider the ethical, environmental, and societal impact of these developments.
Stanford educators and researchers created these three resources:
- The Batch, a newsletter from DeepLearning.AI, which was founded by Stanford professor Andrew Ng
- The Gradient, a blog created by Stanford students and researchers
- Stanford Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence News
You can stay updated right from the source. Three of the largest companies developing AI tools maintain blogs to announce their latest innovations.
- OpenAI News, the blog created by the company that developed ChatGPT
- Google’s Keyword Blog or Google’s DeepMind Blog
- Meta AI Blog
An additional resource worth checking out is MIT’s Technology Review. They publish articles about developments in tech and intersecting fields like medicine and science. However, some of their content is only accessible with a paid subscription.
As another resource to help you keep up, South Bend Code School will present “How Can AI Help Me in Everyday Life?” at the Library on Tuesday, February 17, at 6 p.m. Learn more and register here.
