It is bittersweet to write this final Director’s Desk for NCPL. I’ve been the Director here for almost five years and I have enjoyed my time immensely. But this week I am moving on. I’ll be the Executive Director at St. Joe County Public Library, just down the road in South Bend.

This library is top notch. I can’t say enough positive things about the staff that work here. Each one of them is dedicated to our core values of community, connections, and creative learning. They work hard to make everyone feel welcome, to help people find information and their next great read, and to help patrons learn something new. Quite frankly, they make me look good and they have been a joy to work with.

Thanks to all the patrons who make this work worthwhile. Thanks for reading those books, attending events and programs, and for generally being library lovers. I particularly want to thank the Friends of the Library. What an outstanding group of people! You might consider joining them, if you’re not already a member. They provide funding for so many of the great things we do.

The Board of Trustees has begun a search for the next Director of NCPL. I am confident that they will choose someone excellent.

I’ll see you around.
