This fall, we have some exciting opportunities in for students in grades 6-12! Students are invited to be a part of our Teen Volunteer group to generate ideas for programs and activities for the Library’s Teen Department, create book displays and crafts, and share generally what they look for when they come into the Library. They can make a difference for peers in their community, particularly in the Library.
On September 5, we had our first Teen Volunteers Meeting for this season, and we are now in the process of completing the goals we set. If you know a teen interested in getting involved who missed this meeting, feel free to email questions@ncpl.lib.in.us, and we will share details about upcoming chances to volunteer.
The Teen Department is always a great place to hang out after school with board games, video games on the Nintendo Switch and other gaming consoles, computers reserved for teens, and a unique craft project each month. However, we will have some special activities in this space for the month of September to accompany our exploration of the Limberlost and October to celebrate Teentober.
Also for Teentober, we have two Manga Club meetings scheduled for October 5 and 19. Manga and anime fans can come to chat about their favorite manga or anime series, get creative while making a mini manga library and some cosplay props, and watch an episode of My Hero Academia. If you love manga and anime, you won’t want to miss them! Register now to attend the Manga Club on October 5 and the one on October 19.
